The initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and engagement with local communities through cultural and educational experiences
In line with its commitment to strengthening ties with the communities where it operates and promoting a more diverse and inclusive organizational culture, Aeris Energy will host the “Traces of Identity and Resistance” workshop on April 20. The event is part of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee’s agenda and offers an immersion in stories, expressions, and narratives that honor the memory and struggles of Indigenous peoples, in celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
The program, which will take place at the company’s headquarters, is structured into two complementary parts. The first will be a graphic design workshop led by young people from the Tapeba Indigenous Youth Network, a collective founded in 2009 in the municipality of Caucaia (CE), which works to mobilize and promote indigenous cultural identity. The activity offers a sensitive interpretation of indigenous graphic art, understood not merely as aesthetic elements but as expressions that embody spirituality, ancestry, and the peoples’ relationship with the land.
Following this, the experience will be explored further in a discussion circle facilitated by Vitória Tapeba and Evandro de Assis Lima, members of the Tapeba Indigenous Youth Network (AJIT). The discussion will be guided by themes such as identity, resistance, and representation, drawing on the experiences and work of the facilitators, who use communication and art as tools for the cultural and social empowerment of the region’s Indigenous peoples.
This initiative is part of a broader set of initiatives by Aeris aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion in the corporate environment, which are viewed as strategic pillars for the sustainable development of the business. By creating space for dialogue and active listening, the company broadens the cultural horizons of its employees and contributes to building a more conscious culture that is connected to the local community and aligned with contemporary social changes.
“Creating spaces for listening and learning like this is essential for advancing a consistent diversity and inclusion agenda. When we bring our employees closer to the stories, struggles, and cultures of Indigenous peoples, we expand not only their knowledge but also their ability to build more respectful and mindful relationships both within and outside the company,” comments Luana Melo, leader of the race and ethnicity affinity group within Aeris’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Through these activities, Aeris aims to reinforce its role as an active agent in promoting positive impact in the communities where it operates, contributing to the recognition and appreciation of the identities that make up the Brazilian social fabric.
